Sarah “Shocker” Palin
I am completely shocked! I have been a fan of Palin for several years, but I didn’t even think she was in the running. This could be a complete game-changer. The Hillary vote is more in play than ever now. The “historic” Democratic nomination has some company (I know, Ferraro was nominated in ‘84 but that wasn’t a serious race like this one). She’s younger than Obama. She is a compete Washington outsider. Palin is a true conservative and a wonderful speaker who will energize true conservatives like me. Her life story is every bit as interesting as Obama’s. Her son is going off to Iraq just like Biden’s. And what are the liberals going to say about her? They will find some things, but it will be difficult.
This woman just gave birth to her fifth child who had Down’s Syndrome. She knew that she had Down’s Syndrome from genetic testing before the birth and she kept the child… not her first child, mind you, but her fifth! Anyone want to talk character with her? Anyone want to talk role model with her? Can you imagine Joe Biden debating her? Its gonna be fun.
The only downside is that, Electoral college wise, this does nothing for the Republicans. I will have to sit down and think about this a little more from a numbers standpoint, but, right now, it looks like a brilliant move on the part of the McCain team.
