Lesser of two evils

I am not a John McCain fan.  He has my support for President simply because he is the lesser of two evils.  McCain is not a true conservative, but is, quite simply, less dangerous than his opponent.  There are many days when I wonder whether Senator McCain can even be called a conservative; honestly, is he any more conservative than Bill Clinton?  Probably, but not by much.

McCain showed his true leftist leaning Sunday when, speaking about Social Security, he told reporters

There is nothing that’s off the table. I have my positions, and I’ll articulate them. But nothing’s off the table. I don’t want tax increases. But that doesn’t mean that anything is off the table.

A true conservative takes tax increases off the table, particularly in regards to entitlement programs like Social Security.

I was a Mitt Romney supporter in the primaries.  He was the closest thing to a true conservative that we had among the candidates.  If McCain picks Romney as his vice-president, then I won’t have to hold my nose quite as hard when I vote for McCain in November.
